A message from Canada looking for related Camerons of Descendants of John the 18th Chief Clan Cameron.
my family is reputed to be from James, 2nd son of Donald, 19th Lochiel. He is said to have died 1759. The 19th Chief and his family were banished to France after Culloden. They were officers in the Royale Ecosaiss Regiment. I have been in touch with the archives in Paris but there is only the birth date of James, no enlistment date.
I was trying to establish his enlistment date and whether he served in Quebec or at Louisbourg c 1756-59. A son James died there in 1800 leaving a wife and children who migrated to Town of York (now Toronto) later that year. I wish to find others who share in this information. I have found several with close markers in the DNA Testing. I would be tickled to hear any information you might have which would be illuminating. Thank you. Please leave your message here.
