My motgher isa avid bird watcher . For years she was looking for something to keep squirrels from the feeder . One day while I was downtown I walked into a garden store that also sells bird food . I asked the ownere if he knew of anything that I can do to keep squieeels out of bird feeders . He said use Safflower seeds . Ever since then my mother had no trouble with squirrels raiding the bird feeder . Even though she wanted to keep the squirrels away from the feeder she still wanted to watch them . So I've been putting outg peanuts , and corn for them . Here's the wierd part I've also been putting out dried peanutbutter , & jelly sandwitches , apples , bannanas , stale cookies , & etc. When I checked the feeder the next day most of the apples , bannas , dried peanutbutter & jelly sandwitches , and stale cookies were gone .

For those who garden I watched a garden show sometime back . A woman reported that she was having trouble growing roses . It turned out her roses weren't getting enough potassium . The expert suggested that before she plants her roses she should throw in some banana peels especially if you're growing new roses . So if you would like to have a good bunch of roses start saving you're banana peels .
