Although this could also fall into the category of Lochaber Attractions, the Corran (Narrows) Ferry, across Loch Linnhe, is in reality a fantastic transportation option. For centuries there has been a ferry crossing in this location, located nine miles south of Fort William. The ferry is very modern in construction, and transports vehicles ranging from trucks to cycles (including passenger vehicles of course). In addition to being an invaluable link for Ardgour, Morvern and Moidart, it is also a fantastic tourism option. Those travelling up from Glasgow to Fort William will have to make the long drive around the head of Loch Eil, to see stunning Ardgour first-hand. On the other hand, takng the ferry across Loch Linnhe is a relatively affordable diversion (£6.20 for cars - free for bikes) and only takes about ten minutes. The drive north to the foot of Loch Eil and around that loch's head back into Fort William might take some additional time. However, it's seldom about the destination but rather taking a road less travelled.
