Bha muladach me nuair a'chuala me sin gu robh ar Toiseach mor, Mac Dhomhnuill Dhuibh Loch Abair, a' mharbhadh.

Bha e toiseach math, fior ridir agus saighdear treun, ainmeil, gaisgeach, 's gu cinnteach fior duine uasail. Tha mo chridhe bruadail air chuid na teaglaich aige.

Cha n'eil mi bard, ach tha mi a'smaointean air da orain mor - "Mo Ghile Mear" le bard mor na h-Eireann, Seán Clárach Mac Domnhnaill (1691-1754 AD). Bha e a'scriobhadh i air Tearlaich Stiubhairt, anns a' Bhliadhna Thearlaich .

    'Sé mo laoch, mo Ghile Mear,
    'Sé mo Chaesar {Shaesar}, Ghile Mear,
    Suan ná séan ní bhfuaireas féin     
Ó chuaigh i gcéin mo Ghile Mear.

Agus bho an ceol mor ainmeil, "Cha Till e Tuilleadh"
le Domhnuill Mac Chriomain, anns a' Bhliadhna Thearlaich cuideachd.

"An Cogadh no sith, cha till e tuilleadh,
Cha till e gu bràth, gu Là na Cruinne."

Gabh mo leth-sgeul air son mo Ghaidhlig dona - tha mi moran as cleactadh, anis, mo bhron.

is there a downloadable English-Scottish Gaelic Dictionary that people can use for looking up words in Scottish Gaelic? I know Ian is Gaelic for John, but for everyday Scottish Gaelic terms I would like to be able to look it up.

Hello Gaelgal,
Thanks for sharing that site. I don't know how I missed that one in my previous quests for the Gaelic language. It's defiantly a useful resource for anyone at any level. I also like that it keeps you informed about current issues facing this beautiful language in this modern age. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you more in the future. Till then.... I might have posted this before , but I'm going to try again. I'm looking for a CD that has hymns in Gaelic. Such as ;AMAZING GRACE , ABIDE WITH ME , MORNING HAS BROKEN ,&etc.: If anyone happens to come across one , could you let me know either my email address [e-mail] , or through the Clan Cameron Messege Board?

(These are not Gaelic hymns - they are English. True Gaelic psalms are on this "CD" : Scottish Tradition Vol.6: Gaelic Psalms from Lewis. There are many other sites on the Web. There are many on Google - type Gaelic Psalms.)
