Hi Folks,
I'm in the midst of re-editing and re-formatting the website. In specific, I'm revising the "Battles" pages, which number something like 35 different pages...ach! Anyhow, in the midst of re-examining some of the information on these battles, I found two interesting pieces of information.
First, it appears that on the 19th November, 1664, eight leaders of the Clan Macpherson joined with Mackintosh and other men of the Clan Chattan confederation in signing a "CHATTAN BAND," intended to form a war-party against Cameron of Lochiel. I'd like to get a copy of this document, if it still exists, into the Clan Cameron Archives. Does anyone have access to such records?? Perhaps a friend within Clan Chattan/Mackintosh?
The other item is a small tid bit on Urquhart Castle. It appears that in the year 1545 the MacDonalds/Clanranald and Camerons joined forces to take this castle (probably as part of the Raid of Urquhart, which took place that year) and burn the surrounding homesteads to the ground. I'd be interested in any records on this topic as well, since I have found very little on this topic. Once again, perhaps someone has a friend within Clan Donald that might help...
Thanks folks - happy hunting!!

Hi Tom,
I have found a copy of the Chattan Bond in a book on the history of the Mackintoshes - I shall forward you a transcript in the post shortly.(And boy, those Mackintoshes and Camerons certainly enjoyed knocking lumps out of each other in the 17th century!).
Regarding the raid on Urquhart, there doesn't seem to be a lot more on the incident other than recorded by you in the Battles section. However, keep on looking!
Cheers,Chris.
Cheers,Chris.

Hi Chris, Thanks for tracking down the Mackintosh Bond - as always you're the "go-to" guy for finding those elusive documents! Even though it's a Macintosh/Chattan document, I thought that our visitors at the website might find it historically amusing. ;D As our Cameron ancestors used to say "There's more than one way to skin a cat" (sorry folks if you don't get that joke...) I'm still looking for a Urquhart Castle reference, and have hopes that someone within Clan Donald might come through.
