Robert Stewart Cameron, born 1934, Sydney of mixed Scottish and English stock, with a little Irish and Welsh added, son of Dr Stewart Lloyd Cameron (general practitioner) and Elizabeth Wade (daughter of Sir Robert Wade, paediatric surgeon). Third generation (and more) Australian.
Education: All Saints' College, Bathurst, S.C.E.G.S., North Sydney, Sydney University (St Paul's College).
Married Elizabeth Parry in London 1961. Children are Stewart, a medical general practitioner in Sydney; Fiona, a solicitor in Sydney; and Angus, a veterinary epidemiologist currently working in France. Four grandchildren.
Graduated in Medicine (MB,BS) from University of Sydney 1958, then after 3 years living in UK awarded FRCS Edinburgh 1963. Worked as general practitioner and surgeon Narrabri, NSW 1963-77, then Sydney until full retirement in 1999. Moved to Leura, in Blue Mountains, NSW in 1997.
Interest in genealogy and clan history sparked during overseas holiday with the family in 1978. Helped form Clan Cameron NSW (as a branch of Clan Cameron Australia) in 1983 and branch president until 1993, genealogist since. Attended Achnacarry Gathering in 1989.
Member of the Scottish Australian Heritage Council since 1983, committee member 1984-88. Treasurer of the Sydney Society for Scottish History 1985?90. Active Scottish Country dancer for several years.
Granted personal arms in Court of the Lord Lyon 1989.
