RETURNING TO THE HOMELAND
My heart cries to return once more to the fields of heather,
To wander the mountain pass and hear the skirl of the pipes.
As the drover watches o’er his prized cows and the sheep,
Wearin’ proudly the family colors of the plaid and stripes.
I can smell the skeachan cake baking o’er the hearth fire,
Seanair smoking his pipe and raising his tankard o’ ale,
Waitin to attend the coinne wearin’ our finest of attire.
The mists of the glens hauntingly familiar to my eye,
Awaken with the sleeping warriors in Eildon Hills cave,
Gaeldom shall rise again against all oppressors who dare,
At the Battle of Sheriffmuir, they raise their swords so brave.
Gladly I am not to be the horseman from Lucken-hare!!
Off to the Highlands to visit the Brahan Seer this night,
Coinneach Odhar, offer your words of visions to my ear.
I seek your counsel, through the sunrise or sunsetting,
The Second Sight that you have is heartfelt & sincere.
Blessed Goddess, hear my soul crying to return to my home,
So many memories still vivid in this homesick Lady,
Do not make me wait for another life yet to be lived,
To return me to my homeland by the Sea of Hebrides!!!!!
