when i was in the highlands this summer, a few words rolled around in my head, so i wrote a poen decated to the highlands! P.S remember i'm 15, so i'm no pro yet! The hills roll in emerald green, Dashed with heather so purple can be seen. Dotted with sheep grazing all day, Walking on graves where anstesters still lay. The mountains climb with craigy peaks, Where the fog likes to roll, tumble, and sneaks. Creased with valleys, holding a running stream, Hearing it bubble and gush, you fall into a dream. The lochs swim so deep and long, Where madians wolud wash and sing a song. Proud castles in ruin and long since lost, Drizzling rain will soon turn to frost. In this lush land i do not live, Even though it has so much to give. Alas, soon i must go home, But i have my own forest and hills to rome. By: Megan Cameron well, there she is. Hope you like it. got any suggestions to what i can do? Thanks for reading it!

Hi Camerongirl,
You definitely have the bard gene, and the heart of a poet! I loved your poem, and the honesty in it. My gmother and ggfather were poets. I think ggfather Cameron (b. New Glasgow, NS) was about your age when he began to write poems. I didn't inherit that Gift, just a love of poetry, and at your age you definitely have the Gift. Keep up the good work, like anything else that takes time and practice.
PS. I have been to Antigonish, NS and Scotland! I almost felt I was walking in those beautiful mtns. once again as I read your poetry.

Proof, as if we need it , that the Camerons have bardic genes and Lochaber is the birthplace of poets! Good stuff Megan! Dias Mhuire duit a Mheaghann na Bhardaich agus Chloinn Camshron!

Alans, I feel very ashamed to say that i don't know what your saying means. I plan to take Gaelic in university, but i'm afraid i just can't get it. Could you please tell me what it says? thanks! *starts banging head on keyboard*

My little farewell means " God and Mary be with you Meagan of the Bards and Clan Cameron." Do take Gaelic at University! You are fortunate to have the opportunity as I don't think its taught in Australia at all-ridiculous when 40% of us at least descend from the Irish and Scots gael with some us having both Gaelic heritages in our background. It would be a great shame if the "language of the angels" were to join many other extinct tongues. Slainte mhath! Slainte mhor! a Mheaghann an bhard .

Megan, that is the most beautiful poem I have ever read. You describe so well those things that are dear to us. Dipping down into the fountain of our souls. Strolling among the forest. Casting a gaze across the shimmering stream, quietly standing... listening to the echo of long ago years... Gazing across the stillness, I see you, three years ago, gazing back, I gave this to you, to look back at me, while you travelled this path alone.
