Hello, An ancestor of mine served in the Lochaber Fencibles and I think it is possbile one of his daughters was born while they were stationed in Ireland. Does anyone know where this birth might be recored? Perhaps this should be posted on the genealogy site but I recieved such good info on the Lochaber Fencibles on this site that I thought I should try here first. Thanks

Hi,
I would assume that she was born there,if she was born 1799 - 1802,though there probobly won't be any documentation to back it up.
Certainly, many wifes accompanied their husbands to Ireland - my own g-g-g grandfather Angus Cameron, for instance, was a Serjeant in the Lochaber Fencibles, and his wife was with him in Ireland (Enniskillen area)when their first son was born.I only know this, however, because of the entries in the British Censuses where he gives his birthplace as "Ireland".
The Censuses are your best bet - Church records in Ireland, where they have managed to survive, are very patchy, and the Regimental Records don't held any information of that nature.
Hope this is of some help.
Regards,Chris.
