My GGGrandfather was Angus McMillan born C.1795 and married Isabella McMillan (born 1800) in 1830 whilst both were working at Camisky near Fort William. I believe Angus was from the family of McMillans and McPhees in Glendessary and Isabella was from the McMillans of Callich. My GGrandfather John was born at Lindally in1833, which I believe is near Camisky. Does Camisky have a place in Cameron History?

Hi Duncan,
Welcome to the board.
Camisky,on the south bank of the River Lochy, was associated with a minor Cameron family - the Camerons of Camisky. They were long-time tenants of the Duke of Gordon, with this farm, and the nearby farms of Lindally and Donie.
I think that their connection with the farms ceased upon the death of Captain William Cameron(of the 79th Regiment of Foot)in 1836,and the rental arrears of £256 that his heirs inherited.
Regards,Chris.
P.S.I shall reply to your E-mail in a few day's time.

Thank you very much for the information Chris. I think I will concentrate now on whether I can find anyone else that may have connections with Camisk/Lindally. Cheers & have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...
