Another bit of sad news from Nova Scotia. Ruth Cameron and her late husband Stanley, were strong supporters and active members of Clan Cameron in Nova Scotia. Ruth was a kind, thoughtful woman, who was held in very high esteem in her community.

CAMERON (Gunn), Ruth Lillian - 81, East River St. Mary's, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at home, following a brief illness. She was a daughter of the late Chester and Myrtle (Tait) Gunn. As a young teenager, Ruth assumed responsibility for her siblings upon the untimely death of her parents. Once her siblings were on their own, Ruth left to work in Truro and then at Sherbrooke Hospital, returning to East River St. Mary's to marry Stanley Cameron and begin their life together. She accompanied Stanley through the owning of Cameron Brothers Limited, a logging operation, and then together they began Aigas Farms Limited, growing and receiving wild blueberries. She was a passionate member of Zion Presbyterian Church, the Atlantic Mission Society, Women's Institute, and Sunlight Rebekah Lodge No. 110 and was active in both Clan Gunn and Clan Cameron. In her younger years, she sang with her sisters, the "Gunn Girls". Her gifts of hospitality and initiative complimented her deep love for people and her faithfulness in friendship. Definitely, her deepest love was for family, her husband, her parents, her siblings, her children, including the children of sister Frances, Leonard and Gerald, her grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She committed her life to them. She will lovingly be remembered by her sons, Allan (Cathy) and John (Crystal), and her daughter, Audrey. She will continue to be adored by her grandchildren, Kristy (Ian), Jeremy, Jan, Katlyn, Adam, Nicholas and Riley, and loved by her sisters, Ethel, Edith (Elmer), and brother, James (Donna); and adored nieces and nephews. She joins her beloved husband Stanley, who predeceased her in 2003; and her sister, Frances. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Zion Presbyterian Church, East River St. Mary's. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to Zion Presbyterian Church or Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
