Hello to all Camerons, my first introductory posting. My maternal great-grandfather, Malcolm Cameron, was born in Napponee (Desoronto), Ontario to James Cameron and Roseanna Hagerty Cameron about 1881. He moved to Herkimer County, New York about 1898, married Maude Clemens, and raised three children: Marjorie, Maynard (my maternal grandfather), and James. Maynard married Thelma Wickes and raised two daughters: Marilyn Cameron deMayo (my mother) and Sandra C. Bonamassa. Marilyn married Michael F. deMayo Jr. and raised ten sons: Michael F. III, Mark, Matt, Rev. Martin, Mitch, Malcolm, Maurice, Miles, Montgomery, and Marshall. We do not know anything about either James Cameron or Roseanna Hagerty of Napponee. Who were there parents? When were they cleared out of Lochaber (Cameron) to arrive in Canada, and from what part of Lochaber (Cameron) or Ireland (Hagerty) did they hail? Some day I will learn these things. The ship registry of Cameron crossings by Alistair Cameron of NSW, Au looks to be a helpful place to go digging around. In the meantime, there are 15 grandsons and 5 granddaughters of Mike and Marilyn deMayo. Of their 10 sons, 4 are veterans of the US Armed Forces (2 retired), one of those is soon to command a Fighter Squadron of F-16's, and one grandson (CPT MF IV)has done his 1st tour of duty in Iraq with the 101st Airborne division, and will get one more opportunity to kill terrorists when the 101st redeploys to Baghdad later this year. One of Marilyn's sons, Martin, is a Catholic priest. These Cameron genes run deep and are quite useful to these purposes when hearth and home need defending. More to follow. Good digging, and best regards, Michael F. deMayo III, LTC of US Infantry (retired).
