I'm at a dead end and can't quite work out where to go from here! Any suggestions? Donald Cameron was born around 1826/27 in Morvern Parish. His father was Donald Cameron. He married Susanna McLeod on the 29th May 1848 in Campsie, Stirlingshire. They had 2 children Donald and Duncan and immigrated to Australia in 1853 on the Childe Harolde. They had another son in Australia James. Unfortunately there is no further information on the passenger list as to Donald's parents and Susan McLeod is recorded as his mother on his death cert. The information I was originally given was Donald's mother was Janet, Father unknown and although I can't remember the name of the place the birth place wasn't Morvern. I haven't been able to find the source where this information has come from. Any suggestions?

A quick search shows a Donald Cameron, (b. @1796), married to a Janet Cameron (b. @1800), both of Kilmonivaig Parish. Their children were: John , Christened March 13, 1822 Donald, Christened April 22, 1824 Alexander, Christened Jan. 28, 1826 All in Kilmonivaig Parish
Could these be yours?

I've just come back from a lovely weekend in Scotland. The weather was fantastic. I'm originally from the Southern Hem so ha ha to you all we have better weather than you at the moment (unless of course you're from Queensland and then your weather could still be better than ours!)
Anyway, on the 1851 census it says that Donald was born in Morvern Parish and was aged 24, so although this could be the original information that gave the information that Donald's mother was Janet, I'm not entirely sure it is correct. I know on his marriage cert it says his father was Donald but I've found no information to say that his mother was Janet.
How close is Kilmonivaig from Morvern?
Also my apologies for any typing mistakes I've been out to a friend's christening this afternoon and have had a few extra glasses of wine than normal!

Kilmonivaig parish lies to the Northeast of Fort William - and runs roughly from Fort William to Fort Augustus - and across the country from Fortingall in Perthshire to Kintail in Rossshire. Morvern lies to the Southwest of Fort William, south of Arisaig, and Moidart Parishes, and South and West of Kilmallie Parish. It is not far from Kilmonivaig as it lies just West of the Southern border of Kilmonivaig across Loch Linnhe, and south of Loch Eil.
There were frequent mistakes on the census' that were done, and ages should be considered as approximate. I am also aware of several where the place of birth is incorrect.
Good Luck!
John
