Today I was at a Genealogical Society meeting , and the topic was Gravestones & their symbols .One of the books was titled STONES 18th CENTURY SCOTTISH GRAVESTONES By BETTY WILLSHER & DOREEN HUNTER . I do not know if the book is still in print , or not , but you might be able to find it at a Genealogical Library . I haven't had a chance to go through the book as it belongs to someone else . From the title alone it sounds like it might have information that someone might be looking for .

Came axross some information some time ago that for Camerons who are also of Irish Ancestry and fouind out their Irish ancesters came from Northern Ireland , to find records DON'T! use the term Scotch -Irish as they will not know what you're talking about . Instead all records will be under the heading of Ulster - Scot .

Rrceived the " HIGHLANDER " today it listed 2 new Genealogical books . 1 is " Scottish Genealogy Tracing Your Ancestors " by Bruce Durie Director of Genealogical Studies Glasgow University , and the other one is " Tracing Your Scottish Ancestry " by Anthony Adolf . In the article it also mentioned that if your family lived in Scotland in 1855 , the General Register of 1855 includes information that's not found anywhere else . Even those that came later . In the 1855 General Registration it will tell if a couple had married before , the children they had , and the number of children , & etc. While in Scotland you might want to check these books out . I'm certainy going to try to find them .

Years ago before I became a member of the Clan Cameron Association i would get my Scottish books through Unicorn Books . At the time they had a bunch of information on Clan Cameron . Sometime back I tried to get in touch with them again . So I figured that they went out of business , but to my surprise as I received the August Isa of the Scottish Banner I found out that they are still in business . I don't know if they still have books on Clan Cameron , or not , but if you want to check them out go to your browser and type in scotpress/unicorn ltd. You might find what you're looking for as they deal in rare , and out of date books .

Some years ago while at a Antique Show here in Columbus Nebraska I was able to find a photo of one of my ancesters . It confirms the old saying you'll never know what you'll find in unexpecred places . You might even find a piece of your family history laying in some Antique Store .
