Inresponse to your post - here is a bit on the Cameron's of Erracht. The first of this line was Ewen, eldest son of Ewen of Lochiel - by his second wife, Marjory MacIntosh. He was born in 1530 and was married to Margaret Stewart - although I have never read that this Margaret was of the royal line -. He had two sons, John Dubh (or Dow), and Donald. Thus this Margaret Stewart was John Dubh's mother, not wife. Donald was murdered in 1570, and John Dubh was excecuted in Dunstaffanage Castle in 1585.
There was a branch of Stewarts in Brae Lochaber, as well as the Stewarts of Appin, who given the close proximity of both places would be a logical place for Margaret Stewart, Ewen of Erracht's wife, to have come from.
Ewen MacAllan of Lochiel's second wife's name was Marjory (MacIntosh) - but that is not the Ewen of your line who resided on Bute.
I am not familiar with any Cameron families in Bute. Interestingly, one of my neighbours here in Southern Alberta, a Neil, lives on Cumbrae Ranch. So named by his grandfather who came here from Little Cumbrae Island about 100 years ago. Little Cumbrae is very close to Bute, just off Garroch Head. We live in a small world!
Anyway, I wish you the very best in your searching, and please stick around the family discussion board. You never know - someone may have the answers you are looking for.
Slainte,
John
