For those who are old enough to remember Barbara Mandrell used to have a show on t. v. The one I remember realy well is the she had Glen Campbell as a guest . He came on the show wearing his full Campbell attire , and his bagpipe . Barbara , & Glen did a song called Bonaparte's Retreat . Ever since then I've been looking for a recorfing of that song , and haven't had any luck . I would also lie to know if there's any recorfings of Glen Campbell playing the Bagpipe , or is Bonaparte's Retreat the only one .

I remember watching them, The Lawrence Welk Show ( or the bubble show is more like it), The Osmonds (walking on a tight rope) I could go on and on. It's funny looking back on things. Especially when you haven't thought about it for a long time. Sean

Jon, Forgot to add, I'll ask my father he has a huge video library. He may have what you're looking for tucked away somewhere. It may take awhile if he does though. Tucked away somewhere should actually be more like buried somewhere. He is a collector of things. A LOT of things. He likes to refer it has his "Raven's Nest". Sean

To those pipers who are new to the board , There's a online newspaper for bagpipers that I think you'll be insterested in . This goes for you other pipers also. The name of the site is bagpipers' paradise . To find it on the web type in bagpipers' paradise , then click on Uncle Fergus Home Page . It has articles & stories on bagpipers , pipe bands , anything that's relating to bagpipers , and pipe bands . They've added new links since the last time I looked . In Uncle Fergus newsroom ther's a story about a world wide 24 hrs. pipe band performence being planned for 2010 witch I think you'll find interesting to read . Boy what a sight that would be to see .

Alex , In the PM I've sent you earlier I'm proud to say that the OMAHA PIPES & DRUMS are the proud wearers of the CAMERONS OF ERRACHT TARTAN . They're the oldest pipe band in Nebraska . If you get the HIGHLANDER they usually carry the names of pipe band that are based in the U.S. Canada . Jon

I know this is late , but it'll be useful for future Highland Games . To find out if the Omaha Pipes & Drums will be at a Highland Game in your area go to www.omahapipesanddrums.com for their schedule , and other information about the band .. They're thinking about appearing in Glasgow for the WORLDS PIPE BAND COMPETATION . Later this month I'll be asking one of the pipers if the band will be going to Glasgow . If they are as I just mentioned their schedule will be posted on their website . Also when I get the information from this frien of mine I'll let you know as soon as I can . The last time I talked to my friend a new member by the name of Cameron Cameron joined the band . Jon

Yep !!! That's what it said on the Cd jacket that he OMAHA PIPES & DRUMS made to raise money for their trip to Glasgow to attend the INTER NATION AL BAGPIPE COMPETITION back in 2004 . As far as I know they still have some Cd's left if anyone is interested in having one . For those that are new to the board I 'I've came across a on line newspaper for bagpipers only , and everything that's related to bagpipers , and bagpiping If interested go to bagpipers paradise , and then click on Uncle Fergus Home Page . The last time I checked it I've noticed that they've added some new links .

Was just on the INTERNET to see if I could find other pipe bands in the U. S. &Canada that wears the Cameron Tartan . There might be more , but these were the only ones that I could find CALIFORNIA HIGHLANDERS PIPE BAND formally SAN DIEGO COUNTY PIPE BAND , WYOMING PIPE BAND with members from Northeastern Wyoming , & Western South Dakota , and the only Canadian one that I could find was the GLEN GARRY PIPE BAND of Max ville ? Ontario . Probably to find others you might have to go through each state , and Canadian Provence .

Hi Jon, There is the Regimental Pipe Band of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. They wear Cameron of Erracht.
Also, interestingly, the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada (who wear a MacKenzie tartan) have as their march " The Piobaireachd of Donald Dhu".
There are undoubtedly more Cameron connections in Canadian Pipe Bands, but those are the only two off of the top of my head.
Slainte,
John

Hi Again Jon, The Glengarry Pipe Band actually wears the Glengarry Highland Games tartan, which was designed for the Glengarry Highland Games, and is registered with the Scottish Tartan Society.

I've just received an email ferom Kevin Arnold of the OMAHA PIPES AND DRUMS saying the band will not be able to compete in Glasgow next year as there weren't enough members that was willing to commit themselves to the trip . So they're working on trying to attend the 2010 Competetion instead . For anyone that's interested I'll keep you posted on their activiries .

I have a Royal Scots Dragoon Guards , and a Phil Coulter non- vocal version of HIGHLAND CATHEDRAL . Does anyone know of a recording artist , or group that has a vocal version of it ? Also I would like to find a vocal , and non- vocal version of CALEDONIA CATHEDRAL , or is CALEDONIA CATHEDRAL & HIGHLAND CATHEDRAL the same song , but different titles ? Could someone tell me if they are the same , or not ?

Hi Jon, A quick internet search shows the song 'Highland Cathedral' was recorded by New Zealand artist Will Martin (maybe a Cameron connection!). It is on his album "A New World" and the song is titled on the album "I am My Country".
As far as I can tell "Caledonia Cathedral" isn't a song, but a compilation book of Hymns written for the Bagpipes.
Slainte,
John
