Try the North Coast band or any other pipe band in Cleveland -- they'll know of pipes that are available. There's a bagpipe maker there, too.

To all bagpipers old & new. Even though I'm not a piper I,ve always enjoyed bagpipe music.Recently I came across a website for bagpipers. To get to the site on your browser & type in bagpipers paradise which will connect you to Uncle Fergus Home Page. I found that it had alot of very good information on pipe bands & etc. I think it would be worth a look If you want to e-mail them directly their e-mail address is blackbeardian@yahoo.com Please let me know what you think of this site.E-mail me at ianjonefan@yahoo.com Jon C. Does any member of the Clan Cameron Society know where I might be able to find a Uileann Piper? Would like to have one for Ethnic Festival. I tried every place that I could think of and didn't have any luck. ianjonefan@yahoo.com

That's a great site. Thank you, Jon, for sharing it with us. I don't play the pipes yet, but my boys and I are eager to learn. In fact I've been researching the best way to go about starting. In regards to the site it was very informative and had alot of great stories and history. Thanks again. Aonaibh Ri Cheile Sean H. Chambers

I know this is not Scottish , or Clan Cameron related , but I've came across a e-mail address for a :UILEANN PIPER: For those who are looking for one his name is Isaac Alderson and live in New York. His e-mail address is beatboxhero@gmail.com I saw him perform with Eileen Ivers recently at a live performance with Eileen Ivers here in Columbus Nebraska. I thought he was realy very good and I don't think anyone would be disapointed in him playing the :UILEANN PIPE: ianjonefan

Thanks for sharing that info. I'll pass it along to those I know that might be interested. Hopefully more people will "PIPE" in . This board can crawl at times. I would love to hear from more Clansfolk in regards to bagpipes. My children and I are eager to learn. Aonaibh Ri Cheile Sean H. Chambers

I know this isn't bagpipe music , but it is Scottish music. According to information I have on Scottish traditional wedding music , :HAIL TO THE CHIEF: started out as a wedding march for the Scottish groom since the time of Sir Walter Scott who wrote the original tune.I have a full recording of it on casssette tape I can tranfere to another tape to send to groom of scottish decent that would like to have a traditional wedding march of thier own, or they can go wirh thier clan march. Both are traditional.. Can reach me at either cu1745@yahoo.com ,or through the message board. ianjonefan

Came across 3 websites for those who would like to learn how to play the Highland Bagpipes on their own, or live in an area that doesn't have a pipe band that you can take lessons from. 1. bagpipers paradise( Uncle Fergus) Email address is in earlier posting under Bagpipe-Music. 2. expertvillage.com learning how to play the highland bagpipe. 3. hotpipes.com /practice. If anyone finds one that works for them pass the word along. Others might also be looking for this information. ianjonefan(Jon)

Hello Jon. I'm still working at it everyday. In fact when I pick my lads up from school now they always expect daddy to have the practice chanter in the car. In fact the oldest gets a little upset with me if I don't. You see my oldest gets out first and then my youngest gets released from school about 20 mins. later. So during that time we chat about his school day and have a wee bit of a lesson while we wait for our other thistle boy to come. Then we go home and play it some more. They love it. Any time they hear the bagpipes they immediately start to mimic as if they were playing the tune themselves and at the rate they're going they will. I'm sure you'd like a seasoned piper to have a go at it. Maybe Astie will pipe in soon. Who else on the board plays the pipes? Another question I have kind of related. I was wondering if anyone has a collection of pipe music specific to Clan Cameron ? I'm looking for recordings and also sheet music if possible. I know in the past Astie was searching for this as well and I didn't know if he or anyone else had any luck. I know Jon has stated he has a collection of pipe music recordings. Maybe their are some Cameron tunes in the lot. I would love to have a copy to play at the Clan tent. Anyway I'll work on the tune some more. What I have so far could make for quite a stirring little number. We'll see . Yours Aye, Sean

That would be fantastic! Thank you so much! You truly are a kind man. My lads and I have been enjoying the tape you've already sent. We love the rendition of "The March of The Cameron Men" and then followed by "Scotland The Brave". It can't get better than that. I don't know how many times they made me rewind that ( Are ye redy ta hear that again LADS!!!!) with a resounding answer (YEAHHHH!!!!!) ;D. Hearing the pops of the old record player was a treat for me as well. I miss playing my records. Thanks again. Yours Aye, Sean P.S. Jon, shoot me a e-mail to let me know if you need anything from my end. Talk to you soon.

Sean, What did you think when you found out that :HAIL TO THE CHIEF : was originaly a wedding march for a Scottish Chief? I'm also putting together a list of all the Scottih Wedding Music to send to you just in case you run across someone that's looking for Scottish music for their wedding. I also have a cookbook that has a special section on what to serve at Scottish Traditioal Weddings I can make copies of if you're interested.. The music doesn't have to be for weddings alone , it could also be used for birthdsy parties , anniversary parties , or just an excuse to have a party. Anyway that I can help you in planning any type of party in as far as , food , music , & etc, drop me a line either through the messege board , or by email. I noticed we were online at the sametime

About 2 yrs. ago I read an anouncement in the : SCOTTISH BANNER: , that the is planning to do a rare performance in New York City. At the time it was only a rumor. Last year I emailed them for further information. the :SCOTTISH BANNER: did confirm that it was a rumor , ( I COULD BE WRONG) and it's still in the planning stage. If any member hears any new information about whether the :TATTOO: will be performing in New York City please let us know about it as soon as you can

Update on the :OMAHA PIPES & DRUMS: (CAMERONS OF ERRACHT TARTAN) I was informed by Kevin Arnold of the Omaha Pipes & Drums that the band might not be competing in Glasgow next year as some of the members left the band , and at the same time added new members. He said that by November of this year he'll know for sure whether , or not the band will be competing in Glasgow next year. If I find out any new information one way , or another I'll let you know as soon as I can.

To those that might be interested in having a Cd of the : OMAHA PIPES & DRUMS: go to www.omahapipesanddrums.com . I do not know how many they have left , but it wouldn't hurt to check it out. The title of the Cd is On the Green ( Glasgow Green) from when they were in Glasgow for the 2004 World Pipe Band Competition . I've sent an email to houndofthearrows alist of what is on the Cd.

Found a website that has musical instruments from the Middle Ages , Renaience Periods , all sorts of instruments in between . They even have a catalog you can order . Years ago when I was receiving their catalog they had a replica of a bibical bagpipe you could order , & play . I don't know if they still carry it , but I think you'll find some of the other instruments interesting , such Enghlish Snake Horns , Celtic Harps , American Indian Ceremonial Drums besides bagpipes , & etc. The name of the site is lark in the morning . Maybe some of you have already heard of it . For those that haven't go to your browser and type in lark in the morning . You don't have to put in the .com .
