Does anybody recognise this name? Possibly born 1884. Went on to have two children: Donald Clement Hall Cameron b1912 and Margaret Cameron; living in the Folkestone, Kent area by then. I get a 'not found' result from the IGI so any clues would be appreciated.

Hi David,
The IGI only lists events up till 1875,hence you couldn't find any reference to Clement.
I had a look at the General Record Office Index of Births, and I see that there is a birth for a Clement Rutherford Cameron registered between July and September 1883 at Portsea ( Hampshire ?).To find out details of his parents, you would need to see the original entry - Volume 2,page 482,or possibly locate the family there in the Censuses of 1881 or 91.
Good luck,Chris.

Clement Rutherford Cameron, whose birth was registered in the third quarter 1883 is my grandmother's brother. He is the son of David Cameron and Elizabeth Lankenau who were married at Woolwich, Kent, England on 14th September 1881. At the time of the 1891 census, Clement was living with his parents and siblings in Campbeltown, Argyllshire, Scotland. At the 1901 census, Clement was listed as a 17 year old boy in the Royal Engineers of Kent and living at St Mary Barracks, Kent. He stated his birthplace as Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. Cheers, Joy
