HAVE TRACED MY ANCESTORS THROUGH MY GREAT GRANDPARENTS ANGUS CAMERON (1829-1902) AND CHRISTINA MCDONALD (1833-1911) TO WILLIAM CAMERON (1794-1859) AND MARY MACDONALD (1796-1863). WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE IN SCOTLAND MY CAMERON ANCESTORS CAME FROM--ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Hello, Jack, You might be able to narrow the search ever so slightly. When did your family emigrate? Where did they settle? Frequently groups came out together from the same locality, and sometimes settled in the same general area. Date of arrival in North America is important, as it will tell you if there are likely to be records in Scotland. Have you checked at an LDS FHS? Jeanine

Thanks Jeanine--they arrived before 1850 because of birth records of their children, but no indication of when or where they were married or where they emigrated from. Jack

Hi Jack Did your Angus Cameron live in Canada or USA? Family Search has 20 Angus Cameron on 1881 Canadian Census and 25 on 1880 US Census. Only you will known if the enumeration address is the right one for your Angus. If you find something likely then get the appropriate film and away you go Best wishes and Good Luck Ele
