For the posting of Taylors that have a connection to Clan cameron , or wonder if they do have a connection to Clan Cameron .

Does anyone know if Zachary Taylor 12 th president of the U, S. have a Taylor - Cameron connection , and if Tyler is a corruption of the name Taylor ? If so does anyone know if John Tyler 10 th President of yhhe U. S. have a Taylorf - Cameron connection ?

Hi Jon,
The ancestors of President Zachary Taylor were from Carlisle, Cumberland, England - and I believe, emigrated to the American Colonies in the early to mid 1600's, so it is very unlikely that there is any Cameron connection with this family.
I have no idea about the Tyler - Taylor connection, although I would suspect there isn't one.

Hi Jon
I can actually answer that question!
My Dad is a Taylor who I think is a direct descendant of the same line as Pres. Zachary Taylor--at least that's what the documentation says.
His DNA pattern does not match any Camerons we have in the DNA Project--not even close.
Since a lot of people were tailors way back when and people started taking last names of their occupations, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of families with that name who have no kinship ties.
